Mongezi Stuurman Wiki/Bio/Age
Mongezi was born on the 8th of December 1982 in Mthatha, Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Mongezi is a Xhosa musician who started singing at an early age.
He grew up in a musical family and his father was a choir conductor. Mongezi released his debut album in 2007, titled “Izinqumo Zethu” which means “Our Pride“. The album won him several awards including best newcomer at the Metro FM Awards.
Mongezi Stuurman Career
In 2013, he released another album titled “Ndoda“. The title track of the album became one of the most popular songs in South Africa. Mongezi has also collaborated with some of the biggest names in South African music including Hugh Masekela, Ringo Madlingozi, and Thandiswa Mazwai.
Mongezi’s music is a fusion of traditional Xhosa music with modern styles such as jazz and soul. He has been described as one of the most innovative and original young musicians in South Africa. Mongezi is also a passionate advocate for the arts and he often speaks out against the lack of funding for the arts in South Africa.
