Jimmy Harriott was born to Ainsley Harriott and former costume designer Clare Fellows, the youngest sister of comedian and actor Graham Fellows.

He also has a sister named, Maddie Harriott. He has Jamaican heritage. His grandparents are, Peppy (née Strudwick) and pianist and singer, Chester Leroy Harriott (1933–2013). His aunts are Jacqueline Harriott and Chester Harriott.

For more than ten years, Ainsley Harriott was the show's host and hostess. Alongside professional dancer Natalie Lowe, he participated on Strictly Come Dancing in 2015. Nothing is known about the TV star's private romantic life.

In 2012, Ainsley and ex-wife Clare Fellows divorced. He confirmed to the Mail Online that she and Clare Harriott had separated and were no longer living together. They parted ways amicably and haven't made any concrete plans for the future at this time. He said in an interview,

 

"My marriage didn't last, but when I look at my beautiful children and the lovely relationship I have with them, there can be only positives. I still have love and feelings for my ex-wife, that never stops because she gave me the most important things in my life, and there is a respect there. But everyone moves on, and that's fine."
