Francesca Christine Giner's mother, Amy Jo Johnson attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Her big break came less than a month after she went to Los Angeles, when she was cast as Kimberly Hart, the Pink Ranger, in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the first film in the Power Rangers franchise.

Johnson was invited to play Julie Emrick in The WB series Felicity, in Sep 1998. She had roles in Interstate 60, Pursuit of Happiness, and Infested, as well as television film Hard Ground, in 2000.

She became a series regular on Flashpoint as Constable Jules Callaghan, in 2008. She has had guest roles on a few shows including a recurring role as Hayley Price in the Universal spy drama series Covert Affairs, since 2012.
